To whom it may concern,

"It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of reference for my preferred builder, Dylan McPherson, of McPherson Constructions. I hope that it will go some small way in encouraging others to experience the professionalism and expertise that my family and I have come to expect and enjoy from our long association with Dylan.

I first encountered Dylan McPherson as an apprentice approximately 12 years ago when he worked on a large and challenging cliff-side home we built at Sunshine Beach on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Even then, Dylan’s maturity, desire to finesse his trade, his pride in his work and his can-do, professional attitude stood out and impressed.

A few years passed. I lived overseas for some time and on my return I began a series of builds and renovations of properties throughout Brisbane. I searched out Dylan and was delighted to find that he had his own fledgling construction company. And so we reconnected. To this day, every project we have undertaken has been with Dylan McPherson at the helm. We do not anticipate that changing.

Dylan has worked for us on small jobs and very large jobs. He has come at the drop of a hat for insurance work to keep tenants satisfied; he has gutted and rebuilt property for us at Noosa, on golf course estates; he has undertaken major renovations at our large home in St Lucia; he has worked on our warehouses, turning them from leaking nightmares into state of the art working hubs. He has helped us enormously by looking at potential projects with us, and guiding us as to what could possibly be achieved and at what price.

We consider Dylan an integral component of our personal property portfolio and our development projects. His loyalty to us and his willingness to go the extra mile are rare and much appreciated qualities. We also consider him a throw-back to “the good old days” of when pride in one’s work, a professional attitude, and a refusal to accept anything but the best if his name was to be on it was the norm.

Dylan McPherson is a pleasure to work with, and a fine tradesman. We feel fortunate that so often he is OUR tradesman."

To whom it may concern,

I have known Dylan for about twelve years. I have been employed by Dylan as the architect to re-design his family home in Cooroy and have proposed his Building Company services on many occasions to my clients.

I have found his professionalism to be highly commendable and his working persona easy, honest and direct. His quoting is accurate and complete. His building standards and attention to detail are unquestionable. Clients of projects that both Dylan and I have worked on, have been very forthcoming in praising his quality of work and adherence to building schedules.

On some occasions Dylans’ quotes have been more expensive than other builders and have, as a consequence, been rejected as the preferred builder. Due to my interest in his growth as a builder, I have always monitored these projects so that I can provide Dylan with feedback for future quotes. Without exception, these projects were all completed over the accepted budget/price and well over Dylan’s quote.

To overcome these problems, I believe that Dylan should extend his service to include meeting/s with the potential client to enhance his chances of success. Being a congenial and knowledgeable person these attributes should greatly assist his future endeavours as a builder. Present quotes in person and show the client that you are prepared to spend as much time as possible explaining the costings and the benefits of working with him. This approach should allow the client to get to know you better and feel more confident in commissioning your services. This approach is sometimes difficult when communication is through a middle man eg. architect, but If possible, should be realised.
