Seaview is a new architect designed residence at Sunshine Beach, designed by Tim Ditchfield Architects and built by McPherson Constructions. The steep sloping site presented significant challenges, requiring protective retention piling and careful management of site access and material logistics. Working with the architectural team from tender onwards, McPherson Constructions helped identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining design integrity throughout several client-driven modifications.
The project’s success was underpinned by collaboration between all parties from tender stage through to project completion. Direct builder involvement in regular site meetings enabled design details to evolve naturally through the construction process while addressing practical challenges. This hands-on approach to design resolution ensured architectural details were carefully realised, particularly evident in the integration of limestone, timber and concrete finishes throughout the kitchen, dining and living areas.
Following initial meetings, a relaxed approach to project communication was established, focusing on developing a friendly working relationship between client, builder and architect. This enabled successful integration of several client-driven modifications during construction, including a wine cellar addition, conversion of office space to a gym, and material upgrades such as limestone flooring and crazy pave finishes. The established relationship with the client extended beyond completion, ensuring the resolution of final project details.
